in this operation the liftgate will open as soon as you release the lock, with the remote or, with the buttons on the car...

furthermore, the way I envision the closing as pressing the SAME unlock button again, which will cycle the lock, but will apply the reverse polarity to the struts, thus closing the hatch...

This entire operation will require the soft-close lock, as mentioned by JCL.

Go all out and put a PDC sensor on the hatch so that if there is anything in the way it stops opening.

this is a good idea... since i have not found a decent lifter yet, i did not think about the electronics as of yet... not to put a carriage before the horse... lol... but definitely, a good idea... and then, think about the bottom gate - i really liked the way the RR "clam-shell" trunk operated...

I am talking to several supppliers in China - all of them claim to have what i am looking for, and at the end - none of them have it... lol...

Why not just use the E70 spindle drive? About $320 US per side.

i am waiting for the E70 spindles in the mail - damaged ones but i just want to see if they fit the available space. If they do - all is set... off to think over the controls... if not - then the search is still on...
