Removing air bag decals?
these are the "fuzzy" ones, not vinyl.

Yes I have. 91% rubbing alcohol soaked in a rag takes care of them just fine.
Did the same on all my cars no ill effects

Isn't there a federal law that says it's illegal to remove them?

Probably in Canada. You guys have weird laws.
Not in the U S of A though. I've had and sold 3 cars over the years and no one seemed worried about federal fines from removing stickers about airbags lol. I also always disable my DRL as well, I know for you Canucks they are mandatory lol

Show me where in the document it says I will be federally fined for removing them.
It says they must be affixed to new visors that are manufactured and sets the standards for the label, I don't see a place where it shows a fine or imprisonment threat to remove. I was aware the NHTSA mandates them on visors, not aware however that its a federal offense to remove them yourself. It's not something cops write tickets for, not something inspection stations look at, etc. It's not like you can compare removing airbag stickers to knocking over mailboxes, you know?

For other examples, I disabled tpms on my old GLI and my wife's Rav4 as I prefer to be aware of my own tire pressures.
And there are members on here and all over the country removing catalysts and running straight piped exhausts. Don't think they are getting fined federally.

Gio I'm well aware of litigation in this country and in our world nowadays. Anyone can be held liable and used for anything with the right lawyer and enough money in court.
That doesn't stop me from modifying my cars as you're well aware any change you make from stock may make you liable in a court of law. If I didn't affix an intake correctly to the car and it fell apart and got sucked into the manifold, then caused a subsequent rupture of the engine and endangerment of the new owners which caused an accident, you bet your ass that person would be suing me as well as the company that made the intake if that happened. Extreme example but you get the idea. This is also why it's highly recommended to get a bill of sale where the buyer is well aware car is sold as is and seller is not responsible for vehicle going forward. My only annoyance Gio and don't take this personally, is I come from forums for the past 10 years where something like removing airbag stickers was the norm in the world of modifying cars and obtaining a cleaner look. Now I'm on Xoutpost in 2014 and something I've been doing and countless people have been doing to their cars for 11 years as a simple and free mod, is being debated as possible grounds for federal violations and future lawsuits? Sad world we live in when that is what we have come to, and people wonder why am hesitate to have a child and raise them in a world where every step you take is a potential lawsuit and liability.

I think thats what forums are. If you are exposing your project in a forum, I think you have to accept that EVERYTHING is debatable by anyone.
