Advice on seal/other parts replacement when changing the front CV axle

Going to have the front left CV axle replaced soon. Not doing this by myself but gathering the parts and letting the local indy do the job.

I'm a bit unaware what should be changed with the CV axle while in there so looking for some advice to get it right at once.

-Naturally the CV axle itself (seems like some manufacturers include the axle nut with the axle, and if not, I guess it should be bought separately and replaced?)
-Differential output seal (part number 7 in the picture?)

Is that all or is there something else to replace which shouldn't be reused?

Thanks.

All four of mine were replaced. Definitely replace #7 while there. New plugs for fill and drain are cheap too. Use a squeezable oil bag to refill it. Or run a fill hose up through the engine to the diff. Most new CV shafts should have a new nut. Mine were corroded enough we used a 7 ton puller.

Thanks for the confirmation, will also order new plugs and gaskets for the fill and drain of the differential.

Kind of ironic that the only item in that diagram that is not still original on my 2001 with 205k miles is the "lifetime" differential oil.

I think I'm still on the original axles as well, although the CV boots have been replaced a few times (once by me, at least). When I replaced the boots, I did not need to remove the axle nuts, so left them as is.

So I would not go looking for more stuff to replace there than is clearly needed ... but ...

You'll be removing at least one control arm, and this might be a time to look into inspecting and replacing worn suspension components. I've replaced just about every joint and bushing (and complete arm if no choice) in the suspension at my mileage. New struts too. Springs still original.

Sure, I will, although it might take up to one month until I get the job done.

Might be a bit late but anyway if you or anyone else is still interested for the future, it took about 2.5 hours for my indy to change the axle.
