I like the rear windows clear so I can keep a watchful out for any LEO's
Like I mentioned, unless you drive through mud, my rear glass being clayed and sealed tends to keep it pretty clean, in a rainy day yes it gets a little dirtier but I can still see behind me if needed, cars are pretty hard to miss, its not nearly as important as having a clear front windshield to see as you drive though, just my opinion.

As for "looking out for the LEO's", do you routinely commit violations on the road or do you carry illegal substances/contraband in the car?

Not sure what wiping the rear windshield has to do with Police Officers, that's all.

I am going to do this. I only really use the rear wiper to clean off the snow. But I had an unfortunate accident of dropping a 6"x6" by my car. The wiper took it like a champ. A little paint missing, but it saved my hatch and glass. Keeping that sucker on there, and going to reward it with an upgrade.

Glad to hear it Denis! Let me know how it looks when it arrives, and if good quality too! If it makes a full swipe I may reconsider the "undelete" of mine lol!

... I can't see why it wouldn't make a full 180° sweep...since it's bolted to the same motor as the e53's rear wiper blade...although the e70's rear blade starts off pointing to the right side (I think)...inserting it on the e53's spindle pointing to the left should again, carry the blade 180°.

It's tempting to not mod the rear with a more "aerodynamic" rear wiper...but I think the rubber refill part for the e70 costs more than the rubber refill for the e53.

Still tempting though at $30 vs ordering the parts from BMW.

I think i should have corrected my statement, yes i know it will make a full 180 degree sweep, I meant to the guy above my post who said his rear wiper left an unswept portion in the middle. My stock E53 rear was doing that too, even with greased linkage and a brand new Bosch blade on there, so I deleted it and plugged the hole, problem solved lol

A clear rear windshield IMO will always allow you to spot a LEO more easily than one that has dirt...Windows are clayed 2X a year and sealed afterwards. It's not the ability to shed water of a sealed window that keeps it clean. Morning Dew/aerodynamics of air/dirt = dirty window regardless of rain or no rain IMO.

Do you drive at or below the PSL ? I happen to take a stretch of highway everyday to work in which LEO's love giving out tickets. I prefer to be able to spot them earlier than not, regardless. A clear window allows me this....

Case in point. I was on the LIE out east on the Island. Typical Long Islander is generally driving 70 mph on average. So here I'm in the middle lane, doing 62'ish while cars and zipping by on my left and right. Leo is hanging back, and then rides my ass for about 1/2 mile. Now the minute they ride your ass, it generally means they are about to light up and want you to pull over. Not in this case. He rides my ass for 1/2 and then decides to cut off.

OT to the whole rear wiper thread, but again, I just prefer to have the ability to at least have a clean clear rear windshield..
