LED Angel Eyes upgrade for factory halogen headlights

Hi all, new member and 2005 X5 owner here, sorry but I can't find this info on the forum or anywhere else.

I'm trying to find LED bulbs for the angel eyes but all I see are for housings that come with standard HID headlights.

BMW Headlights | BMW Angel Eyes | LED Marker Bulbs BMW 5 6 7 Series X5

*Only work for the BMW listed with factory equipped HID headlights only.

I already ordered a wrong pair from e-bay and sending those back today. I don't understand why they have to be specific to begin with. But, if they do, then I'd like to just purchase the correct bulbs.

Anybody point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

The link that you have, those look like they should work fine with yours... are you sending those back or getting them?

The LEDs are in the housing in your 1st and 2nd links.

See this post for an example.

Again, the one in that link below should work too. Did you actually try fitting them and they didn't fit?

I haven't tried them yet cause the ebay seller told me they wouldn't work since I don't have factory HID's/Xenon. (also told me there aren't any kits for non-hid) I have halogen low-beams.

Think I should just give them a try? I didn't want to mess anything up. From what you guys are saying it doesn't matter if my headlights (low-beam) are hid or halogen.

Yes, it is a 2005. I have halogen bulbs in headlights.

I keep seeing this message on all the listings.

*Only work for the BMW listed with factory equipped HID headlights only.

Here is another listing that states "factory equipped HID headlights only"

2X 7W White BMW E39 E53 E60 E61 Angel Eyes LED Halo Ring Marker Light CREE IC | eBay

I'm starting to think maybe this is true for other BMW Models and so they are putting this disclaimer up with all their ads? I think I may just try them after work today before sending back.

Then you should be good to go. Those AE housings are installed inside the headlight. You just have to pull a cap behind the headlight to access them. Search and you'll find plenty of examples how to replace/install them. Its not that difficult.

Yeah, I found the install links and was ready to go until I noticed all the warnings about HID headlights only and I don't have HID headlights.

When I put in my Year, Model and Make at the iJDMtoy.com website it puts up a notice/warning....

Note: Please make sure your BMW comes with factory HID headlights to use this product

BMW Headlights | BMW Angel Eyes | LED Marker Bulbs BMW 5 6 7 Series X5

Why is this warning there? Will I mess anything up in my car since I do not have HID headlights? That's the main question I have. Are there LED bulbs designed differently for HID or non-HID units? Is this a computer/code issue?

It may be nothing but a legal disclaimer on all these different sites but wanted to check in. I'm going to call JDM when they open up in Cally to see if they have a take on the situation.

Thanks again for getting back to me.
