MID Units

Hi all. I have now completed my after market stereo install and have full satnav, bluetooth, ipod control, 5.1 prologic sound etc. When I removed the original 16:9 display I was aware I would lose some functionality with the High spec cluster. this in itself is no great drama, but I am now seeking how I can restore that functionality. I have purchased and installed a correctly buttoned MID unit which is plugged into the white connector that went in into the back of the 16:9 display and plugged that into the MID. I now assume, as this is still not working that the MID needs to be coded to the car to tell the car that it is fitted. Is this correct? Pics of my set up can be found on my other posts. Thanks for any advice received
