Transmission safe mode

I was on my to south Florida today, pulled off at a rest stop when I went to get on the turnpike and accelerated I had a lost of power. It drove fine once I was back to highway speed until I going over an overpass where it hesitated. Made it to Fort Lauderdale I accelerated and it lost power again and yet it again it went away. Made a U-turn and had to hard accelerate this time the trans fail safe and SES light came on. I am able to drive it but shifting from 1st to 2nd is a hard shift, downshift from 4th into 3rd hard clunk. I am now shifting the ST mode to try and control up and downshifting.

My question is have anybody else had this problem? Could this be a speed sensor not talking to the module, I plan on getting the codes read once I get back to Orlando.

Drove it back, on the highway it ran fine. When I got off to get gas it downshifted hard, leaving I used manual mode and other then going into 4th it shifted smooth. At the dealership now waiting on what they found.
