Bought an 2006 X5 4.8is last week...

X5 -- 4.8is. INCREDIBLE!

As I test drove the 'spaceship', I got it up to 115 and the guy looks at me and says -- 'go faster'. approaching 125 I had to slow down as it wanted more.

This -- is -- an -- incredible -- vehicle.

I didn't think a BMW could actually outrun, out do, outpace a Mercedes (07 S550). BUT I AM overly impressed, finding more stuff about it every day.

I even found the flashlight and the other plug at the bottom.

Of course I have suspension problems, but I think it's a relay.

Ricky Bobby will become famous soon enough
your suspension is 99% not a relay.

most likely leaking airbags or burnt compressor.

The relay problems were on the earlier models with the rear-only air suspension (relay is in the dome)

I'm not gonna ask that in this thread -- I've been reading a bunch on the suspension inactive, and had the code reset. I've never heard the pump come on.

Can you point me to a thread that has some good information on where how to get to the dome in the back to check that relay. The start seems a little slow, so I'm sure the battery has gone dead (reset the flat tire monitor the other day).

Car is in REALLY good shape, no cracks, cricks or crumps in the seat, a little squeek in the air conditioner.

Thank you for the guidance!

Imma only assume it is, since it is a 2006. October (looks like it).

Is it THAT bad? Thought those engines were developed by Alpina...

Take this as a precaution, For your review
Enjoy your new SUV (do thorough inspection yearly and go from there)

- coolant pipe
- valve stem seal
- secondary air system

BMW Repair Parts & BMW Performance Products | All German Auto | All German Auto

My dad sold his 7 series with N62, he got sick of it (money pit)
But it is a case to case basis.

Like other owners experiencing THESE ISSUES to name a few common pain points CCV, transmission , coolant expansion tank, pan roof , door carrier or actuator , window regulator and many more
AND some are dodging it.
