I think he would know the difference between the 4.8iS and the 4.4i, especially on the paper work. The PO must have spent some $$$ to make it a 4.8iS copy if it's indeed a 4.4i. The picture with style132 suggests that it is a 4.4i to me.
well.. i bought a V6 530 once... as stated in the sales papers... turned out, the car was a V8... lol... besides the fact, that the BMW did not make the V6s...

if the speedo cluster has the functioning redline lights a la ///M, then it could be a 4.8...

Thanks for all the comments. It was a private kijiji sale. The fun has started - right rear window doesn't work (motor goes, won't do down, but goes up) and the left rear door handles stopped working. It was my wife's first day with the car (can I call it a truck, I so want to ). Scoring some points

VIN pulls up an 01/2004 4.4i. It's what I would want to do to a 4.4i but would never get around to or justify.

The list is building up, but I'll get it compiled and start posting.

For starters, how to get off a door panel when the door won't open. Quest #1. Off to dig out then start searching the forum.

Cheers.

What an amazing truck in the snow!!! Foot down, point and shoot. Such a fun ride. We got dumped with about 10" of snow. Finally dug all the cars out and took the X for a ride. What an experience. I am so glad I took the plunge. I'll be repairing door handles, locks and windows this weekend, but whatever…..
