I've recently seen a thread where the steering u-joint was the source of problem but I believe it was a click click click type sound related to the wheel position.

What you are describing sounds like in the suspension.

Clarify: do you mean the steering wheel wobbles a bit left and right as you steer a constant radius or do you mean you feel an instability of some type as you steer
