Just to clarify, it WILL move backward, but NOT forward? if true, then yes, probably the seat switch. if it doesn't move at all and you don't hear anything after pressing the switch, you'll want to check the connector at the motor to see if you get voltage when you press the switch...then go from there.
look for this part# 61308099072 used one on ebay for $15. or new one here: Actuation unit right. BMW # 61308099072, 52108226310, 52108242818
