4.8is iPod/iPhone adapter identification
Problem is I can't figure out how to work it, spent an hour fiddling around with every option on the nav (with dsp) and still couldn't figure it out. On my e46 m3 the aux cable i added is easily accessible by going to aux mode. I can find no similar option on this vehicle. Am I missing something painfully obvious? The CD changer also appears to be broken as there is a disc stuck which prevents the magazine from being used. Tried going into CD changer like i've seen in some of the youtube videos but doesn't seem to be working. When my iPod is plugged into the cable it IS charging so it's clearly being recognized and it stops charging as soon as the ignition is turned off... I've searched but been unable to find anything, I've attached a picture below. Can anyone identify the brand of this? |

Never seen that one before. The picture doesn't help much since the screen is wash-out with not much detail of the unit.
Since it's a one owner with all paper works, any chance to get in touch with the PO? How about looking through the paper works? Congrats on the SAV, btw.

Thanks, great vehicle. Wanted one since I first saw them 10 years ago.
Was trying to focus on the connector in the picture and not the screen (though it does appear to be usable even when plugged in so maybe not the intravee?) Tried contacting the PO but no luck, decided to stop responding once the deal was done... Ton of receipts for everything but this. Stuck with no music since the changer magazine is stuck and the radio reception seems to suck too. |

Do your radio have a mode button? Is there an AUX mode? Try putting the radio in AUX mode and playing some tune on the eye pod.

Tried the mode button but it doesn't help. Cycles through NO CD and NO TAPE and just stays on radio. I can't get it to CDC, Aux, or anything similar like my e46.
Took the changer out last night and the six pin AND 3 pin were both still connected... Strange as I thought you only needed the 3 pin for DSP cars. I also thought you had to run a changer OR an ipod adapter such as DICE. Ipod and iPhone 5 (with 30pin adapter) both charge when plugged into the cable so they're clearly drawing power from somewhere... |

Perhaps it just a charger for an eye pod or eye phone and is not connected in any way to the entertainment system.

PO said that he used it for all his music instead of fixing the broken CD changer...

The AUX might not have been connected at all... easy to find out - pull the nav monitor (4 T-10 torx screws under the bezel), see if the 3-pin connector is really connected to anything, or is still factory taped to the monitor harness... The radio will recognize the AUX when there is resistance between the Left and Right channels and will put the word AUX onto the screen...

Talked to the PO. He said that it is an FM modulator which should work through FM 87.3 Problem is there is no 87.3 that can be accessed through my radio, nor do any other stations pick it up. Oh well, FM would suck anyway.
Pulled the changer which is busted too, so looking at replacing it with a blitzsafe bluetooth module which connects into the old changer harness. Here's the vw version. Blitzsafe - VW / BLUETOOTH V.5T |
