Aux Options?

Hi guys. I am looking at putting in an Aux cable for my e53, WITHOUT nav.

My car is a 2003-2004 transition model, "officially" 2004.

The guides here seem to highlight the nav cars. I have BMW Business CD (I think thats just a name for the basic cd option?).

Any ideas? I'm thinking of just pulling the trigger on one of these eBay cables.

Let me know.

buy the 3.5mm headphone jack that just plugs into the back of the business cd player, from ECSS tuning for about $35. works great, just no iPhone controls obviously

Yes, get the OE BMW cable. Just make sure to get the one with the correct plug for your business CD radio (it's a different plug than the Nav unit). Works like a charm and you get to keep the CD changer (which was important for me).

Depends where the OP is in Canada for the specific demerit points, fines, etc for the use of a handheld electronic device, but spending money to connect a music player isn't always a great idea. Unless of course the driver is never going to select a song or otherwise control it while driving. Not sure that many have that self discipline. We do use an Aux input with an iPod on long trips, but it isn't in reach of the driver. Copilot is the official entertainment coordinator.

The plan is a tablet install (foam + leather to match the trim), with a slide out keyboard or something similar, and a backup camera.

It was inspired by the nexus install. The nexus install was OK, but I believe it can be done better with a rear camera. and AV-in android tablet. I will open a thread when the project begins..
