WRX STI

All,

Been reading about the WRX STI and so far from the reviews i am tempted to go for a test drive, but before i go wanted to get opinions from current/ex sti/wrx owners, how do you like driving it compared to the X, am in my mid thirties....will it be too harsh or too loud.

Thanks

Current rides:
X5 4.8is
E46 325xiT

It's nothing special these days. Make sure you have wheels/tires to use if you are using the car during winter. The car comes with summer only tires. Other than that, it's just a regular Subaru WRX with brembo brakes, some stiffer suspension components, and fender flares. Of course, this all depends on what year you're looking at.

WRX STI vs an E53 48i .... are you having some kind of mid-life crisis over there??

Don't get me wrong, the STI is a killer rally / track vehicle... but is that going to help you when your stuck in traffic or going 75 on the expressway trying to avoid the police...

I've never owned a WRX STI but my cousins fiance did and I drove it regularly when I went down to Orlando. His must well modded in terms of both performance and visual appearance and it was a monster to drive, very fast and very planted on the road running high performance summer tires of course. That being said it was a little exhausting to drive, the ride was not completely unbearable but it was pretty firm. He ended up trading it in a couple years ago for a 330 ZHP. Comparing that to driving my X is comparing apples to oranges. I wold daily the X before I'd daily the STI, but it would make a good weekend driver.

STI is a younger crowd vehicle, its a nice car but lacks class and luxury. Even being only 20 myself i still prefer higher end cars...

Get a 335i or if you want awd xi, jb4 chip for $300, and some other mods in the future and you have a beast.

Dont know if your looking for new or used, but used ones with low mileage can be found for good price.

thanks for the replies

BigBlack48is- Not replacing the X5, I think i will drive it to the ground, will be replacing the e46 325xiT.

maharaj1- thanks, I never drove or sat in an WRX/STI so it's good to hear about how it rides.

4.8isX5 - If Sti or WRX it will be the 2015 one as I hear the new ones are a lot better interior/ride wise (just from what i read), thinking abut restricting my budget to no more than 35k, and i can only see WRX/sti squeeze in that budget... new.335i sounds tempting.
idk how they are maintenance wise or if i can get a good cpo.
not too worried about image but yea the way it rides def...anything else out there with good performance and reliability?

Thanks

A test drive will tell you much more of what you want to know and be lots of fun. If you drive your X to the test drive and back you the difference in the driving experience will be clear.
