If your pwr door lock doesnt work and the dome light doesnt come on

If you go to open your drivers door and the dome light doesn't come on and the locking the car with the remote doesn't lock the drivers door it may not be your door actuator like you would think. I know I thought that was the problem or the previous owner didn't plug it back in when working on ti for some reason... Nope.

It seems if the power window switch assembly in the drivers door panel isn't plugged in fully it disables the drivers door lock actuator completely and since this also is how the car knows when you open the door the dome light doesn't come on.

It seems the previous owner found those little lever latches a bit to complicated so they just ignored them and removed the connectors anyway without releasing them first.

This in itself wasn't the cause. The cause had to do with the fact that without the lever to position the plastic cam correctly it allowed the connector to be pressed back in but it cant fully seat in the socket since the cam bottoms out early.

Next time I take that door panel off I will take pictures showing what I ran into. I need to get on the net now and order replacement shells for the connectors to restore them to proper working order.

Once the cam fragment was rotated right it allowed the connector to fully seat and presto the door lock went to working and the dome light responded to the door being open.

I never imagine they were related wiring wise.

Someone is bound to run into this one day so I figured I should document it for them
