cd player/rear cup holder trim cover removal
Has anyone had any experience? People only ever talk about the doors and center console removals. Cheers OH I'm changing my wood trim to the 3M 1080 titanium wrap. So far all parts look amazing. Will do shift knob and overhead console, as I wait anxiously for someone to shed some light for me

The rear cup holder has screws on the bottom that need to be removed. I used a mirror on the floor to see where they were.

Pull volume knob off MID ("radio"). Insert small Allen or Torx in hole. Turn locking screw 1/4 turn, MID will pop out on left side, remove. CD player is held in by 2 now exposed screws on bottom. Remove 2 screws.

Tmv, seen thAt write up in my google sear hing but its for an E39 or maybe even an e34 from looks of gear shift selector plate.
I have an idea about the cd player trim but not sure how to remove the lock washers on it. As for the rear cup holder trim. I think it will just be easier to remove enter console so i can access this piece easier and do the large center console trim piece in titanium vinyl And the search continues

Clockwork any pics of the progress? I'd like to try out wrapping my trims to Titanium as well, which 1080 did you use? Brushed aluminum, or one of the gloss vinyls?

Since the e39 & e53 share the same MID, an the in-dash CD43/CD53 & C43 are basically the same design architecture...you can follow the instructions for the e39 (and there are many).
The e39 instructions and the e53 diagrams (from realoem.com or bmwfans.info), if you can unscrew the finial to remove the shade from a lamp so that you can change the light bulb...then you should not have any difficulty removing the MID & CD from your e53 following the instructions for an e39. The diagrams are good for deconstructing trim etc because it lists all the hardware and how all the parts fit together. If you didn't already know, the encircled numbers in the diagram represent hardware...and many times, the hardware has its separate index illustrated within the overall diagram. [/CENTER]
