Cold can be an issue. When a L-ion battery is sluggish due to cold, turn the seat heater or leadlights on, it will heat it up in a minute and the car will start.

Really? then why are all the L-ion powered vehicles I pass every day not bursting into flames?

Really funny how "FIRE" was the same arguement of those in favor of steam power when internal combustion hit the market. Steam fanboys even called it "explosion combustion" to scare people back to steam.

Seeing that L-ion is used in 100s of ks of vehicles on the roads today, I will be making the switch.

DEKA
- Exact Fit Model 9AGM49 (All Glass Mat version of above)
900 CCA 180 RC 13.9375" x 6.875" x 7.5" 18 FR 70 PR

This is the one I bought, but I replaced proactively (and then promptly twanged the leads for a nice reverse polarity surprise!).

While you are in there, put copper antisieze on the stainless steel t-bolts and nuts. You'll thank me when you don't break them off in the future.

As for L-ion battery fires, the only ones I'm aware of in cars have been Tesla's that have been impaled by debris (road or wreckage debris pierced the batteries).

I saw that vid too, one Tesla Model S ran over a metal pipe that impailed the battery, fire followed.

I've seen hundreds of exploded lead/acid battery pics/threads. And dozens more corrosion due to offgassing threads.

Boeing Dream Liner grounded due to fire from LITHIUM ION Battery

Apple first gen Ipod Nano recalled due to fire from LITHIUM ION Battery

It's your X but due to the location of the battery and the difficulty accessing the battery if the battery should over heat you can kiss that X good bye.

It's just a vehicle.

Lithium ion is DOT approved and I have full insurance coverage. If it burns I'll find a low mile, non-rust belt, low owner count 4.6is.

The possibility of an oil or gas fire is much higher.

Good luck in the search for that, considering there were less than 2,500 4.6iS over the entire production run.
