Wipers go up if I turn off the car

Hey guys, not sure if this is common with all e53 or if it's just mine but I got a
2002 x5 4.4 and when it rains obviously I use the wipers and they work perfectly except when I turn the car off (without switching it off) the wipers automatically go up. Even if they just went down, the wipers go up. Any ideas?

Is it something that just started happening or something that has been happening since you got the X?

Haven't heard of this before on an X, But I know the new Rovers have a "winter wiper park" feature that move the wipers half way up the windscreen upon turning the key off. I wonder if your problem is some option that can be coded.....in which case I want it! haha.

I got the car like this. Not sure if it's coded but the OCD in me kinda bugs me so I'm forced to turn the car on and turning off the wipers to bring it back to the beginning position.

Please tell me this is a feature that is coded.

I can't stand having to time my wiper stalk flick and turning my key off to have the wipers vertical when washing my car.

Granted I prob wouldn't want them to go vertical every time I shut off the car though lol

My 2008 GLI had a "service position" where if you turned the car off and within 10 seconds pressed the wiper stalk down once it would pop the wipers up to vertical for easier car washing.
