front end shake - which component

Hi - been looking at the forum threads and have the somewhat familiar issue of front end shaking during certain speeds/braking.

There appears to be a lot of different/possibly incorrect descriptions for the same part....Is the correct part to replace the tension strut or wishbone?

I'm thinking it's the tension strut, but just double checking...I'll probably do ball joints while I'm in there.

Thanks!

Do you get a jerk in the wheel somewhat hitting the brake pedal quicker? If its that itll be the big most furthest front arms. Ive seen them called a variety of names.

Depending on your mileage you may want to look into other components for wear once your in there.

I developed a shimmy/shaking during braking at certain speeds that remained after I R&R the thrust arm bushings, ball joints, and strut links. It wasn't until I replaced both control arms that the shimmy/shaking went entirely away. And my front end felt firm, finally.

tension strut bushings are most certainly well worn.

You can buy the arms w/bushings already pressed in. Bimmerworld will press in power flex poly bushings for the cost of the bushings and $10, but this pretty much makes things 150% of normal cost. However, I love my power flex bushings and recommend them unless your roads are heinous.
