Checking your rear suspension joints
So, for the next 7 days, I have a slew of projects to complete. First on the list was to check the suspension and alignment. Crude methods showed my toe was good front and back. I had a nice digital level, that told me the right rear negative camber was around 1.70 and the left rear around 2.75. Something wasn't right. My winters are done and wearing bad on the left rear inside. Plan was to fix before the summers and new rubber get put on. This is step one of that plan
![]() In order to properly assess the links in the rear suspension, you need to relieve the air bag pressure. THIS IS KEY TO ASSESSING YOUR JOINTS. Without doing this, everything will seem tight and if things aren't, you'll shred tires. Anyways, I pulled the two fuses and cracked the fitting on each line coming from each tank. This got things good and loose. Turns out the lower ball joint on the left is toast. I had the upper arms already on hand, as the one boot had given up life some time ago. The rest seemed fine. I installed the uppers and tossed in new sway links. I'll get the two lower joints done. I'm also doing the front thrust bushings today. Hopefully that straightens it all out. Follow everything up with a proper alignment, then toss on the summer rubber
