Upper rear "TUBULAR" control arms??

I was doing a little research on adjustable control arms. A lot of guys with cars that don't have aftermarket adjustable control arms sometimes custom make tubular control arms. I was thinking maybe it would be possible for the e53 community. We all know about the rear tire wear. This is a rough thought. I don't know much about them but someone here must know a thing or two. I'm thinking we take some measurements and have a machine shop whip up a tubular arm with proper joints and just have one side threaded no? It seems to be a simple concept. What's everybody's thoughts on this? Any ideas? Worth a shot if you ask me .

You only get excessive tire wear if you have worn suspension in the rear and/or alignment is off (with too much toe)

I don't think the cost/benefit is worth it, I'm due for my first set of new control arms and bushings in the rear at 10.5 years of age and 73k miles / assuming the replacement set gets me almost to the same lifespan I won't be doing it again until 2023.

Make sure your suspension is up to snuff, wishbone control arm, and lower ball joint/integral link are the heavy areas of wear, the guide links are more hardy and don't wear as quickly, but they should be replaced too in intervals as good practice.

Just make sure your toe is at .01 and your camber is within spec you'll have no issues with wearing tires.

Mine is lowered about 5-6 inches. That's true I would be the only one needing something of this sort. My suspension is all out of wack

Yeah I mean for you thats a unique circumstance. I'd dial out as much as you can on the camber but you prob still have at least -4 degrees LOL

Just keep the toe to .01 in the rear you should be ok

I wore a set of tires out within 3 months. All be it they were cheap tires I still would expect longer than that. I'm planning an air suspension system out now that will get me even lower.

Best you could do for the moment would be a KMAC kit, and make sure he remaining parts in your suspension aren't worn.

What are you planning to use for air?

Autopilotv2 for management as it comes with everything needed besides bags and uas bags that will slip over my front Bc racing struts and slam specialties rear bags as they compress to 2 inches and can hold 250 psi safely. Any recommendations or changes? I'm learning as I go

First, get a height based system or a system which utilizes both height & pressure....its going to be next to impossible to keep the vehicle level with a pressure based system alone. For show cars it works...but for a driver & changing loads it's really a half-ass'd approcah; IMO of course.

Secondly is that even if you could get a bag to compress down to 2" on the rear (which is more or less the height of the factory bag bottom seat),a geometry-wise i doubt it's going to work. It would require a slimmer tire and/or a wild offset, as going that low will touch the inside top side wall to the inner fender wall with the extreme camber that will undoubtedly result.

As far as UAS and their "250 psi safely", the pressure you need to run to achieve your desired ride height will be a function of the bag size vs vehicle weight. Burst pressure would be what I'd look at not max fill pressure as you're likely not going to need more than ~100lbs psi. I found mine to slow down around 85 psi, so are likely around the 70-75psi per bag mark. I'll know more specific numbers once I get my new setup up and running.
