The time to watch for any chance of LKQ parts being used during repairs is when you shop for insurance. If your policy has the LKQ clause, the insurance co can use them, regardless of the owners wishes for OE replacement parts.

Thankfully, for body parts, as far as my experience, there are not alot of 3rd party parts...so it's generally OEM

Learning by experience

I was fortunate the Certified BMW body shop fought to replace the damaged LKQ part (1st choice by liable insurance co) with an BMW OEM. The other driver insurance was very cooperative.

TO DO: Verify our insurance clause OEM versus LQK versus (Aftermarket CAPA "certified as good as OEM", Non-CAPA "copying part - STAY AWAY!")

and just in case we are not liable, let's hope the other drivers insurance will be cooperative and will support OEM

Yikes, sharp stabbing pain inside the knee and I freeze up with back pain if I've sat for a while. Gotta see the doc later today to see just how bad it is.

However, I just found out they caught the guy!
