Hi all & thanks for your help.
I have had the seal(s) done in the compressor. The old 'ring' was really worn.
We have fired it all back up and cleared the fault - once again I can raise and lower the car from the diagnostic machine or by dash control...
The car stays level at the height we set it - this time 707 & 709mm
However the moment it is driven a few hundred yards the fault/warning 'inactive' returns.
The pump is still pumping to just over 13bars (like before)....tomorrow I will try to find out what the latest fault codes are... grrrr!
At least one thing is eliminated.
Any ideas?
