Summer Road Trip

Took the x5 for a run up the East Coast to a NewEngland tour deforce.
Up to the stylish area of Newport RI to visit a few "cottages" on the water.
First up the Breakers, sorry no front yard shot just the parking lot.
X5 did great pulling in 19.9 mpg at a steady 78mph and few WOT pulls to keep up the fun.

On to Vermont
Day three update: Hard run up to 100mph for a few twisties and hills. Great sounds and fun. First long trip for this X5. No oil consumption, vibrations, etc. Sucks up the miles without a care. Great run. Oh, I have yet to see a cop car up here on the interstates. Locals in every town speed zones to pick off a few extra tourist dollars.

We are off to see a few factories
Ben & Jerry's
Calbot Cheese
King Arthur Flour
Vermont Maple Surup
and a few others....

Be sure to hammer up/down Rt 100 in VT: nice road, little traffic on weekdays, some interesting towns, etc.

Been there and done that today. 65% potholes and ruts. Must have been one heck of a hard winter up here. We have been hanging out in Stowe for the last two days, seeing the sites and factories in the area.
Don't waste your time to see Ben&Jerry's place as the tour leaves much to be desired. Better factory tours in detroit and in PA (SEE Harley's factory in York). We need tro set up a group tour in BMW plant in SC. Groups get the best tour guides.

The Viper plant has been the best tour I have been on including Ferrari's in Modena. Would like to visit the F1 side of the fence sometime.

Sorry to read that; it's been a few years since we hammered Rt 100 on our scoots. A good friend lives in VT and reports that winter was a bitch and long, and the state DOT is 'broke', fwiw...
Don't waste your time to see Ben&Jerry's place as the tour leaves much to be desired. Ben & Jerry's was cool to OK in the '90s. Now it is a fluff 'tour'.

At least you are not there in early Oct for Peeper Season: that is a fookin nightmare of tour buses, and literally cars bumper to bumper on the good two lane roads. Enjoy your trip!

One last one that would be of interest. Stopped by Saratoga Springs yesterday to pick up a few more horse power and get some tips on the up coming races. No California Chrome tips.
So far 1400 miles with out a hickup. Lots of bugs in the teeth of the X and now that it rained she will need a real deep cleaning this weekend.

Beautiful ride in a beautiful part of the country.....enjoy it!

Last fall my daughter and I took my 4.8 from Dallas to Anacotres, WA to meet the wife. (Death in the family) 2700 mi in 34 hours haulin a$$ and she drove great. Speeding ticket in Oregon tho, 82 in a 65.....ouch.

Any odd moments of cars zooming up behind you to check out your ride then seeing it a BMW and backing off quickly? Lol! Happened alot to us on the way home!

Enjoy it brotha!
