E53 X5 4.4i Alignment Specs

Hit a curb Monday morning at ~40MPH and blew front left tire and damaged rim in the process. New tire came in today and NTB installed it at no charge (it was 8PM someone wanted to go home!).

Bad news is they said my front camber is off the chart (see pic), and a camber kit would not help much. On top of that they have seen serious damage on the strut. I am no expert in suspension/strut but I did not like the sound of the news. They still completed some alignment but the wheel is horribly crooked, it is very much like Im turning left at all time. I have attached the alignment report. The good thing is i am on a 3 year alignment plan, so I can come back and get them to do a better job to specs. Can someone comment on what else I can get them to do alignment wise? See my E53 details in signature. Tires are 255/50ZR-19 Continental CrossContact UHP (Front), and 285/45ZR-19 Continental CrossContact UHP (Rear).

Replace the strut! They said it was damaged.

I was in a 12hr endurance race last weekend in a e36 325i. Part way through the race we had some light contact with another car with the left-front wheel. It wasn't enough to noticeably mess up the alignment. About 6 hours later in the race the left front strut broke in half. I've never seen a strut fail like that. It was surprising the wheel stayed on the car and our driver didn't crash. We have to attribute the strut failure to the contact earlier in the race. We managed to replace the strut in about 15min and still finished third in the race!

Bottom line -- struts can fail and it's not pretty when they do
