sway bar diy

I picked up a set of lemforder sway bar links for my 03 4.6i. I found installing the links problematic as my "thin" 18mm box wrench were not thin enough. As I tightened the nut down the 1/8 of inch thin 18mm wrench became stuck.

Any recomendations on a truly thin 18mm box wrench? Need something thinner than an 1/8 of an inch.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Why don't you just grind the excess metal of it?

I found a Var Professional Cone wrench which says is 2mm thick. It's should do the trick.

I picked these wrench sets up for both metric and SAE on Amazon. Cheapo china manufactured but they work. On my E39s the end links are 16 mm. So for the price of two wrenches from Snap-on or SK or Sears you can have a complete set with these. All they have to accomplish is to hold the end link threaded shaft, while you crank off/then on the nut.

V8 Tools (V8 8109) 9 Piece Super Thin Wrench Set - Combination Wrenches - Amazon.com

8mm x 9mm, 10mm x 11mm, 12mm x 13mm, 14mm x 15mm, 16mm x 17mm, 18mm x 19mm, 20mm x 2lmm, 24mm x 27mm, 30mm x 32mm
Wrench head thickness: 2.6mm to 3.8mm

Good looking out. I'd also get a 17, the febi links I replaced with had a 17mm cutout.
