Sheared valve cover bolt- not panicking yet

Despite taking my time on a Sunday afternoon replacing my valve cover gasket and spark plugs while I was at it and being really careful I still managed to shear off one of the valve cover bolts. I suspect I didn't feel my torque wrench click at 10 nm and that 1/2 an extra turn was fatal. At least it's near the front corner. Looking at realoem it appears I can replace the stud bolt along with a new cap nut.

Hopefully a thin wall 10mm socket will access the stud bolt without having to remove the valve cover?

Oh man thats unfortunate, at least you can get to it... Mine is the rear left one that sheared off (when looking from the front of the engine) fortunately it has enough grip on it so i can still drive it... Where are you getting the replacement for?

There's a BMW dealer about a mile and half from my job. Hopefully they'll have them in stock.

Wow, your lucky the bolt sheared instead of cracking the valve cover/head. Glad to see you can get the stud out fairly easily.

I think your problem is that you're doing the job on a Sunday !
Should have gone to church
Hopefully replacing will go smoothly ! Good luck!
