That was my first stop. It was from an 05 and had the same issue. This was really the only way out. The newest module you'll probably find would be out of an '06. At this point, that module would be 13 years old, with well over 100K miles if someone's junking it. The SM CPU fails due to 1: being a 90's-era 8-bit CPU that is 13 years old that had literally tens of thousands of input/outputs processed.

Computers wear out, DME's have driver failures for the fuel injectors, general modules have CPU failures. For me, it's just part of owning an old german car that's paid off
