Can't seem to reset oil service light

Hey guys I got a 2002 x5 4.4.
I replaced the cluster and the stereo (original did not come with navigation)
Anyway everything works great but I just noticed that my oil service lights weren't changing so I tried to reset it but I have no option to reset it.
I pressed the button and moved the key to the 1st position. The oil service does come on but there's no option to reset it. I had my oil changed about 5k km ago by a drive in shop. They were able to reset it but it's just stuck on the all green. Any suggestions? Could this be caused by the aftermarket stereo?

Leave them green and have a good time driving it.

The problem is that it's stuck on green. It hasn't moved from the 5k km I've driven. So it thinks it just got changed.

No tamper dot. I had it done through the dealer.

each one of the 5 dots is about 3K miles, for about 15Kmiles... so, 3K miles is about 5K kms... maybe some coefficient/multiplier is off?

It takes time for each dot to go away, however it doesn't help if you keep on resetting it. Like TerminatorX5 said 3K miles is about 5K kmh so give it another +/- 2,000 kmh and see what the results are.

Ok I'll wait about 2k more and post back. I was just concerned. But it hasn't been reset. At least not yet. I'll wait and see.

Guys,

Don't those dots depend on many things?
I read somewhere that DME checks the mileage, oil temperature, external temperature, time running etc. etc. to determinate the intervals.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Your wrong.

You are reading or getting told old information about BMWs built prior to this generation of BMWs (like the e23/e24/e28/e30/e32/e34). The e53 uses SIA III which uses one criteria (FUEL CONSUMPTION) to determine when the SI lights go out and the OIL SERV & INSPECTION warning lights illuminate:

If you know how to do the instrument cluster reset...you can find out how many liters of fuel you need to consume BEFORE the next service. The number appears at the end of the reset procedure...and the number is followed by an "l" to indicate "liters". From there you can convert the liters into gallons using a conversion calculator (google it) if you need to.

Also, there is a minimum amount of fuel (20% which is = to one green LED) that needs to be consumed before you can attempt a reset. See the information below under the "additional info" section for minimum values for repeated resettings:
