1 minute high pitch noise when opening doors
Good day, Gentlemen!
First off please let me begin with saying that I've been a frequent visitor of the forums for a the last few months, doing some reading since I have been planning to purchase an X5. Well now I have, and I'm happy to be starting my first thread here and be a part of your community! Unfortunately my first post will be addressing something not so nice. The car in itself is very good and I am happy with it so far. However, there is one problem which is driving me crazy. Every time I open the door, a high pitch sound will appear for 60 seconds. The sound appears to be coming from below the instrument cluster, in the foot well on the drivers side. It doesn't matter if the car is on or off. And yeah, if I wait for the noise to pass and the turn the key it will "restart" again for another 60 seconds. The same thing happens if the passenger door is being opened. Another 60 seconds of hell, then total silence. You can follow this youtube link for a short video of the issue: X5 high pitch noise - YouTube Does anyone have any idea of what could cause this issue? Any help would be highly appreciated! Best regards, Peter |

could be an aftermarket alarm installed below the steering column.
