PSA: Hood logo

Looks like the BMW hood badge is another part that one should go OEM with.

Mine just decided to part ways with me on the highway.

I thought I hit a bird or something...then I remembered I took a chance on a cheap Amazon hood badge.

Oh well.

Agreed. My next one will be OE. Just replaced mine a year ago with an "ebay" version and I had already made a dent on it when I "tap" it back into place. The ebay version is made of a much softer material.

FYI...even the OE version will eventually separate like your picture (mine did) due to the aging glue.

BTW...where did you get your "non-moustache" facelift matte grill? Is it painted or just matte plastic? I've been searching for a painted one for a while without much success

I found a heritage one. It's metal, and has a slightly different font. Go to real oem and pull up a car from the 60's or something.

You don't have a signature that identifies model/model year etc...do you have a pre-facelift model or aftermarket grills?

Yes you did...but not knowing what model/model year/build date you have...I misinterpreted what you wrote. I meant no offense...but I do think it is helpful to others that come (especially new) to the forum...to know what model/model year others have...especially when searching and pulling up old threads.

I know personally, when I came to the forum, it was sometimes frustrating trying to figure out some things when many of the original posters (in the old threads) have no vehicle information. It was unclear if they were facelift, prefacelift, and sometimes it wasn't clear if the had the 6 or 8 cylinder engines.

It's been holding up pretty well!

I used the rattle can dip. Disassembled the grills and sprayed the chrome only. Only prep was an alcohol wipe.

The worst hit I could see wrinkled the dip slightly but did not flake it off.

It's held up to reassembly, road use and pressure washing just fine. I had a tiny bit of flaking at the very inner edges of the grill which I since touched up, and fine so far. It was probably my inexperience and rushing to put them back on the car without checking I sprayed all the edges and corners properly lol!
