WTH??? Lock cylinder came out.

Will post pics soon, but the driver door lock broke... the cylinder came right out. Opening and locking the car with a screwdriver now... until I figure out how to fix it. This car is fun to drive, but starting to get frustrated with how flimsy it is. in so many ways.

The lock cylinder came out of the barrel or did the entire barrel come out?

Here's a video about removing the door lock.

You have a vehicle that has reached nearly 300,000km and you say it is flimsy?! Okay, if that's what you reckon.

I would suggest it's fair wear and tear, but that's only my opinion. After all - the vehicle was intended to be locked and unlocked using the remote, with the door lock for extraordinary use only.

As for the barrel - they can be removed and replaced. No big deal.

I'm used to door locks not breaking... :P

300k km is nothing, I put 500k+ on an old pickup... guess I better get a new battery for the key fob

Mate, how many features did your old pickup have compared to your X5? Aren't you comparing apples with watermelons?

Concussion? What on earth have you been up to dude? Seriously, look after that - can be nasty.

Can understand the frustration, but try to keep perspective. Like you, I've had old, simple vehicles that just keep going and going (or so it seems). But when you sit them next to a pristine example, you realise how bad they've gotten

Now, siddown and look after your squash. You only get one and they don't grow back!

Professor X5 your posts crack me up, every week it's a new problem with your car! I think I remember telling you to calm down, when you posted about your first DIY,that there would be plenty more to come...lol! Well look at it this way, if you replace enough parts you'll soon have a new car!
