2001 BMW x53 pass. side window STUCK DOWN

Greetings all-

1.) Rolled down passenger side window on one fine day :-)
2.) Went to roll back up. NOTHING. No sound, nada.
3.) Assumed regulators bad, so bought new reg. with new motor attached
4.) Disconnected window, removed old clips, taped window all the way UP
5.) Installed new regs/motor, went to roll window up to attach window to clips AND>>> NOTHING. NADA. ZIPPO.
6.) Hit DOWN button and moving slide piece went all the way to bottom
7.) Hit UP switch on driver's side AND pass. side remote and NOTHING
8.) Checked fuses. ALL good.
9.) Pushing switch DOWN from either pass. side remote OR driver's side produces a clicking noise. Pushing switch UP from either pass. side remote OR driver's side produces NOTHING. NADA. ZIPPO.
10.) I tried reaching into door panel and grabbing sliding regulator while holding switch button UP. No luck at all
11.) Only other clue I have is that pushing the central locking switch locks or unlocks all other 3 doors, but NOT passenger side.
12.) Final query/question/thought. If I have a bad door actuator, which was working fine before I removed the door panel, fyi, could it be that it is related to the window not rolling back up?

ANY help her greatly appreciated !!!

Maybe the connection for the UP function at the motor is faulty? Maybe the pin isn't seating or something. Have you tested the connection for +12v when trying up/down. You should definitely get it for DOWN since that works... if you aren't getting it for UP, then something upstream (and not in the door unless it's a frayed/shorting wire) is causing the problem.

You said it was a new motor right?

I had the switch unit go bad. They can collect rain. Discovered the new version has a weep hole where the old one did not. Unfortunately it is funny digital thing and you can't test it with a normal switch.

Yes, new regulator with new motor attached. What I obviously realize now is that the old motor and reg. were perfectly fine. Have appt. with Indy mechanic Monday 7AM. Not gonna let this ruin my weekend :-)

Thank you. New version ? Do you mean p/n# 61316962507 ? Well, that is an option for sure. Driver's side button FOR passenger window clicks when DOWN is pushed, exactly like passenger side switch does. NEITHER switch make any noise (i.e.- motor clicking/trying to work) when button is pressed in UP mode ...

Sounds like the PM-BT module (passenger switch module) may have gotten water in it or maybe the relay inside went bad. Either was replace the switch module.

Mine was the drivers door. That is the part I am talking about, but for the passenger side. The drivers side is very complicated inside - all four window circuits and the mirror controls. The case pops open pretty easily (several tabs hold it together, all visible) and you can inspect the internals for burnt marks and corrosion.

The passenger module is nearly as complicated inside as it still has the drive the window, power mirror and door lock actuator. It just have fewer switches on the front.

The only thing connecting the driver side control panel with the passenger one is a single wire called the P-bus. The P-bus forms a multipurpose network for the driver's door PM module, passenger's door PM module, general module and sunroof module. Simple serial messages are sent across the bus to all of these modules. For example when unlock on the remote is pressed the general module unlocks the rear two doors and sends a serial message to the two front door PM modules to unlock the front doors. Ever wonder why the rear doors seem to unlock before the fronts? There is a bit of latency to get the message to the PM-module to unlock the fronts.

Passenger side switch module does sound plausible if the entire circuit runs through that switch. Or vice versa for the driver's side being at fault if the entire circuit runs through that one. Anyone have a diagram of how the window circuit works?

Took it to Indy mechanic, and for almost nada he used a scanner and then
showed me precisely where the entire switch had gone bad. Water damage!
Found a new sealed box switch from eBay seller for $119. This weekend, while others are enjoying outdoor BBQ, baseball fishing or summer in general I will be doing the following:

A) Passenger & Driver's side Window Reg./Motor (A1 Cardone $92 all in)
B) Driver's side cylinder lock repair and door handle replacement

2001 x5 Aplina white 3.0 liter sport package. 206,500 miles still purring like a kitten with BMW dna !
