Same noise?about the same time?
Do they need to be adjusted or changed?dont even want to think on the cost..if it won't hurt anything then I'm fine with it.

Its fine no adjustment needed. Mine is due to it sitting for extended periods but clears up quickly. Your correct as to cost and theres no harm if its the lifter. Just keep an eye on it that doesnt get worse or doesnt go away.

Since it only occur during cold start, -where the computer is adjusting all kinds of stuff according to the feedback it gets from the various sensors, it would seem like it is overcompensating a bit on either ignition timing or some vanos adjustment. But quickly re-adjust as soon as it detects knocking.

I'm purely guessing here. But what else could cause 2½ knock and then nothing..

It is indeed a guessing game ...will leave it alone for now just wondering if anyone else with a N62 motor is getting the same noise besides me and optimusprim5

I have N62 4.4 engine and it doesn't make that noise. I checked again about 30 minutes ago and no odd noise like the sound from your video. Sorry, I have no idea what that could be.
