If you need an overhead console without the ultrasonic opening, I have one. Just PM me. Includes the homelink and the moon roof switch as well as all the lights.

Is everybody beside terminator missing the fact that the 5th button is for the passenger seat occupancy mat sensor?
Do you not have it in yours?
What am I missing? I thought your question was what is the 5th button..and not related to the ultrasonic sensor which has it's own space on that console.

I saw that... but our 2005 4.4i sport does not have that 5th opening for an occupancy sensor notification.

That is weird...especially on a 05 4.4...i wonder if it was an option .
I thought all of them must have it...at least the 04+

Wow...this would be a lot easier to follow if there was model/model year/build date info. Please consider creating signatures that includes this info so that forum members can make suggestions, recommendations etc based on how your e53 may be optioned based on where it falls within the production run. Or at least...remember to mention what you have in your post.

As mentioned, there are different consoles based on build date...due to the pano sunroof that started a few months after the roll out of the face lift models.

The IMS (interior motion sensor) is in a different location...as well as the rear overhead courtesy lights. And as mentioned, there's no sun glasses holder if you have the pano roof...its IMS is located where the sun glasses holder is when you have the regular sunroof.

If you have the regular sunroof..your rear electric seat switch, rear courtesy lights & IMS is located in in this panel in the middle of the headliner:

When you have the pano sunroof...there's no place for the components above...so the rear courtesy lights are moved over to the side above each rear window, the rear electric seats switches are moved to the C pillar, and the IMS is located in the center overhead console toward the rear (where the sun glasses holder is located on the smaller sunroof set-up:

Pano Sunroof overhead center console contains the {IMS/passenger seat occupancy sensor/BT ~phone mic/BMW ASSIST ~SOS/HOMELINK UGDO/Sunroof switch}

My 2005 4.4i sport w/ pano roof does not have the passenger seat occupancy sensor as in your picture. Has everything else though.

And you're right I do need to create a sig with build date, etc. Will do.

...interesting...your 2005 facelift doesn't have the passenger occupancy seat light in your overhead console?

(see #2 in the diagram & pic below)

Nope, just the 4 in a row. LOL I can post a pic if you really don't believe me.

Terminator I like the rear facing cam up there... would be handy seeing as our wife and I had our first (and possibly last ) child earlier this year. Would be an easy addition to the avant 2 as I think that unit has a couple of inputs.

How about deletion of SOS button and introduction of V1 remote power?
