This subject has been discussed a lot...you don't actually know more than the tranny manufacturer in this case being ZF.Go with what they recommend ..
Just cuz redline works for you doesn't mean it's the right oil for the tranny.

There are a bunch of oils that "work".Like this shop that was giving me 9 months warranty with Wolf's head universal transmission oil which is about 3$/qt but wouldn't warranty the work if I brought in my own lifeguard 6. Asked if I can get them to buy the ZF lifeguard instead and warranty the work and I get a no as an answer..
That's total nonsense...
Trannies are more sensitive than the engine itself.
We play around with motor oils but stick to what the manufacturer recommends for the transmission.
This is just my opinion, others won't agree obviously primarily because of the cost of ZF fluid.
