Should I replace my tranny fluid?

Hey guys, currently my 02 e53 4.4 has 113km.
The other day I was driving and it looked to me like it was slipping (only happened this time) not sure if it was because of the hill I was going over or what but I did notice this and eased off the throttle. I don't think the tranny fluid has been changed so I'm wondering if I should... Many people say don't touch it but other people say do it so I'm a bit confused as to what to do. I haven't had any issues with it (just this one time) otherwise it shifts and works perfectly.

If you guys suggest doing the tranny fluid, which one should I put on? thanks

Automatic transmissions do "slip" as you call it. It happens whenever the torque converter is not locked up.

Do a transmission fluid search. I believe It will be much easier and provide a tsunami of choices.....

Don't say tsunami mate.....tell him there's a couple of posts, but there's good info. Lead him in gently, then crack a beer and watch the poor buggers eyes pop out of his head with the sheer number of posts that relate to two positions.....to change or not to change LOL

Look at the bottom of your trans pan. it will tell you what kind of fluid it takes. go get a new filter / gasket / and fluid of your choice and get it done!

better idea to fix things before they go kaboom... usually saves you $$$ in the end. don't believe any fluid is "lifetime"

Before changing the fluid I suggest taking it to a well recommended Indy automatic transmission specialist that works on BMW transmissions to have them diagnose the transmission and check for fault codes.

Some issues have been temporarily corrected by changing fluid but a fair share of the time a fluid change is not a fix.

For example ... my transmission is a ZF 6hp26 and according to the manufacture of the transmission you are supposed to "service" it. Every manufacture of every transmission has their own opinion on this. Mine just so happens to be 80km-120km..

I choose to change the filter and top it back off with fresh fluid every 80k-100k miles.

Here's the proof that will prevent the people from climbing up on their soap box and crying wolf ( http://www.zf.com/media/media/docume...hselkit_EN.pdf )

Pleeease...
