P0011 and P0015 Codes on E53
P0015 - B Camshaft Position Timing Over Retarded Bank 1 Ok so here is the deal. I was out of town on business and when I got home, my lovely wife said that she started the truck one morning and it made a really weird sound so she turned it off but no idea what that weird sound is though. She opted to use my sons truck for the day. Next morning she tried again and the truck fired up and ran completely normal and has been running normal ever since. When I got back a couple of days ago I noticed that the check engine light was on so I reviewed the codes. I actually got 4 codes but two of them I have seen before. P0313 for misfire detected with low fuel P2098 for post catalyst fuel trim system But I also got the above mentioned codes regarding timing. Did a little research and have seen some of the horror stories associated with these codes which is disheartening but I also have to say that right now, the truck runs perfectly? So what gives? Can the VANOS stick throwing things out of whack temporarily and then regain functionality? It seems odd that it did this and now runs fine. Too bad I didn't catch the noise myself but I am sure it will be back sooner or later
