I`m thinking you may need item 21

I had the same sort of thing with my '10 Jeep Commander, and as puddinboo suggested, it was item 21. In the Jeep there was one on each side, and one was missing. Whenever I met a semi on the highway I was afraid my hood was going to fly up and shatter the windshield.
Check and see if you have item 21 under your hood. If it's there, it should be adjustable by hand, just loosen it a turn or so at a time until the hood doesn't have any play when closed.

Yup. You need to adjust #21. It is located just above outer headlight mounting point.

Thanks to all of you for the useful advice. Today I check the stoppers and all the two stoppers located above the headlights (item 21 in the diagram) are there without problem. Finally I solved the clicking problem which has been haunting me for more than half year. Guess what? It is the small stopper located on the hood hinge, it looks like a small screw with hex head. I adjusted the screw to a bit higher position and closed the hood, then I drove my x out for trial, the clicking sound went away completely. Oh my god! I finally solved the problem. I am so happy now!!!
