Passenger door won't open

Hi. I have had a read of many threads on door opening mechanisms etc but can't find anything I need .
What happened is a few days ago I couldn't open the passenger door from the outside, I ordered a new carrier and replaced the old broken unit which was broken in the typical spot. All was operating correctly but instead of fitting the trim I decided to do a couple of repairs to the door arm rest. Now after a couple of days I cannot open the door from the inside or the outside. The door lock actuator appears to be operating correctly on the key buttons and on the console button. I have pulled back the door cover , under the door trim(remember the door trim is off) and the cable and everything is still in place and looks to be working ok, I can get my hand down there and try and operate the door mechanism but it still won't open the door. Not sure what to do next as everything looks ok but the door just won't open. Does anyone have how any ideas how I could open the door ? .Somebody else did have a similar problem in another thread and they took it to the dealer and they opened it, but the dealer would not say how they did it. I do not want to go anywhere near the dealer. Ideas please as I am becoming extremely frustrated with it . Thanks

try this

it will sound crazy but have some one sit at the central unlock and continually depress the lock/unlock over and over and over.... all the while during the unlock (as evidenced with the other locks unlocking visually) attempt to open the door from the outside. I recall years back replacing a few doors parts, something similar happening to me, someone then suggesting to try this and to my disbelief it worked. For me it was about 30 + count on the second go, but it worked.

Did you turn on the child lock by mistake?

Got the same issue but with my back 2 doors. I can hear it try...but to no avail. Child lock is off. And only way for me to open rear doors is through the front doors.

Well , I sorted it out, it ended up the cable on the new door mechanism was slightly shorter than the original by about 1mm . This wasn't allowing the door linkage to be released enough to reset the catch . I bent the tangs down slightly that hold the cable and it's now working fine. What a PITA job that was.
