^Is that true? I know on the e46 (previous bimmer I had) they had that function deactivated on all of the American cars for "safety" reasons (aka stupid law suit happy Americans. I assumed the same was true on our cars. I guess it will be easy enough to check next time I go out to my car. I just thought you had to code it do that if you wanted it in the US.

I almost never use the feature to open my windows but I actually do use the key lock feature to close them a lot. It beats getting in the car closing the door and pressing every button than wait for them all to go up before i get out. I think its a cool feature.

Putting up the windows is a option. That's why you need to "code" the car.

btw can this car soft program turn off an air bag light? I messed up and unplugged an airbag on my e46 while the battery was hooked up. Lucky for me a few months later they recalled a front passenger airbag so I had them service that (free of charge of course) knowing they would then have to turn the light off. Got a free car wash and everything. Sure beat paying the dealer $160 to turn that light off. I'm very paranoyed about doing it again.

^^That is what I thought. I just bought the BMW scanner 1.4.I don't know why but my search function just does not work on this board. Where can I go to find some info on what all can be done and any type of guidance? I'm sort of assuming this software is not very intuitive for someone who isn't necessary a computer wiz and most likely has poor instructions. Maybe I'm wrong.

I want to see what this thing can do and I really want to see if I can mess with the auto door lock feature. My doors lock if I go over 5mph or whatever and then they don't unlock when I shut the car off. It is borderline comical everyone that tries to get out of my car pulls the handle once (unlocking it) than since the door doesn't open they look for the lock, try to pull it up (of course it already is) and then just sit there really confused. Sort of annoying to have to explain to everyone.

Yeah, there must be some difference from euro models and US models. I tried to enable convertible top to close by holding lock button but no go. This feature can be enabled with euro models. Yes, stupid law suit happy Americans!

Watch the video as per the first post. He talks about basic reprograming and reseting lights including airbag. I beleive bimmerfest forums talks about coding much more than this site. I set my doors to auto lock at 5mph.

Huh - so do they also auto unlock when you shut the car off?
