Question on a specific E53 purchase

Hello Everyone... I've had several E39's yet am now looking to get my first E53 (3.0i)... I'm going to look at the 2004 X5 listed in the below link.

I've read up on a lot of the things to look for (and of 'course insure it's been properly cared for) yet I could use your advice as to whether the price they are asking is a good/fair price.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Best.

I suggest going to cars.com and check for similar vehicles in Texas. Prices differ by region. Do a search of 500 miles or less.

What wears out when and what has been replaced and what has not varies by vehicle. Best way to get a good sense of what you are buying is a pre purchase inspection by a well recommended Indy that specializes in BMWs.

Thanks to the replies! On Cars.com as we speak. Appreciate the tip.

And how did I think it was a 2004?! Big difference, ha... (been looking at far too many ads)

ok, back to the drawing board... certainly found a lot of new options to explore

Best

That one looks pretty nice. KBB says its worth 6100 in your area, NADA says 9400. I just spent the past few months combing the market for one of these and that price seems pretty good if not just a smidge high. It looks to be in pretty good shape and if it has service histroy it is worth looking into. Get a PPI for sure.

I would run the VIN thru an online decoder. The X has sport pkg and the optional sport seats (sport pkg 3.0 Xs didn't come with those seats). You need to know EVERY option to get accurate value.

Once again, thank you guys very much. Good eye and good intel!

The vehicle is local so I'm at least gonna have a look at it tomorrow. I'll make note of the VIN and decode it as suggested.
After a thorough look over (I've done my research as to what to look for via this great forum) and a potential PPI (if I'm still interested), I'll negotiate from there.

I'll let you know how it goes!

It looks reasonably priced, but I'm sure you could get it for $500 cheaper if you show up with cash.

Sports package truck and looks well cared for. As suggested a PPI will set you mind at ease but the price seems about right.

Looks pretty good. FYI, my son in law bought a 2001, low mileage [80k or less] in Houston last Fall for $9900, after the seller did some repairs. Price may be a little high at that mileage, but the condition might justify it.
