I don't have DSP but I do have the mk4 nav and 6 disc changer. I just installed my oem aux cable a week or two ago. All I had to do was plug it in into an empty female wiring harness by the back of the radio. I didn't have to disable anything and everything works the same as before the aux input.

Installation of the Aux input "DOES NOT" require disabling the CD Changer. I have this set up including the CD Changer and the Aux Input.
Would you believe I have cassettes to play as well???

sroth, which dealer was it? the SUN motors? They are clueless!!!
you buy a harness (part number is floating somewhere here), or build one yourself (very easy to do), pull the monitor out, uncurl the 3-pin connector that is PRE-WIRED in your car (not knowing details about your ride, i speculate that you have MK4 factory setup, thus pre-wired for AUX) and plug in home made or bought harness, and that is IT. you are all set!!! let me know if you need more info

Thanks all, what you described is how I thought this worked, hence my surprise by what I was told and the post to this forum. I really appreciate everyone confirming my sanity prior to buying the part.

For as long as I can remember, my dad always had a cheapo truck stop George Jones greatest hits in his truck. When he passed and we were taking care of his things, I grabbed that tape and it's been in every vehicle I've owned since then. When I got the X5 and realized it had a cassette player, I popped it in, expecting it to sound like crap after 2 decades of sitting in hot/cold vehicles. Sounded great! My dad would've LOVED it.

I did it too, takes about 30 mins and I then attached it to a 3.5mm Bluetooth adapter and I have Bluetooth streaming. Best upgrade I've done.
