I'm sure they'll look awesome once done - but I just don't know what people have against the stock tips - I reckon they're one of the best looking exhaust tips going around. The elongated design makes the car look square and wide. I love them.

Leave the original tips on!! You are contemplating chopping off the tips that everyone wishes they had on their non 4.6/4.8 X, and you want to replace them with tips that look like they came from autozone? Not to mention they are original to your 4.6 of which only 3,000 were even made. The only excuse for cutting those off in exchange for quad tips is if you're going with Eisenmann or Dinan from the resonator back. Don't mess up a good thing, please.

That's your opinion and I respect it but these are far from Autozone. SS T304 can't be found in Autozone for a good reason, it's not cheap crap.
This is just a just matter of opinion. I personally think the OEM looks cheesy but that doesn't mean I'll discourage someone to put them on. No need to get excited about it.

You do and I don't, everybody is different.

I maintain, don't molest your 4.6. This is coming from someone with quad tips on a 4.6. But it's eisenmann. Save up and do it right.

In my book, molesting car means putting 22s, cheap ebay healights, pep boys 4" muffler etc...

Changing the look of the car in the back with tips similar to 4.4i but bigger and SS instead of black is not molesting in my book.

Don't take it wrong way, but if you perceive something to be right or wrong, it doesn't mean it's set in stone. Some guys here said they like the OEM better and that's fine with me. But you're making it like this is Ferrari GTO and if I change anything it's sacrilege.

I personally think that OEM muffler is perfect and Eisenmann
is overpriced but if you're happy with it, that's fine with me.

I just have the same opinion like these guys:

Quote from Road & Track 4.6is first drive:

"If there's a cheesy element to the package, it's the oval exhaust tips that poke through the diffuser; the round pipes of the 4.4i look better"

I agree.

If someone was to give me a set of OE 4.6is tips, and tell me they have a muffler shop that would install them no charge, I would pass.

The prior post "everyone with 3.0 & 4.4 Xs want those" is hardly the case.

4 round pipes looks "form follows function".
