Question on replacing SRS Airbag module

On my 2000 x5 4.4, SRS light was on due to following codes.

1. Seat belt buckle, front passenger
2. Internal control unit fault

After replacing seat belt buckle/tensioner, tried to clear SRS light by BMW Scanner 1.4 but it wouldn't clear.
I guess I need to replace control unit, and re-code VIN to match my car.

While I was searching for used SRS module, found matching part# but with different version.
I believe the Part# must be matched, but how crucial is to match Version#?

Thanks.

There's are places that can repair your SRS module.

I had a SRS light so I brought another module on line. Same part number, but different version. Installed and the SRS module, clear the code and the light went out. Didn't need to code it to my X. I did get my original SRS module repaired and will keep it as a spare. Hoped this helps.

Thanks for quick reply.
Do you remember it was to higher version? or to lower version?

Thanks.

Don't remember if the SRS module in the X is a later or earlier revision compare with the original SRS module.

Just to follow up, I replaced the SRS module with the same part# and higher Version#.
Cleared the code and it is good now. Didn't need to re-code it at all.

Thanks.
