Stop tech brakes and Lowering the x5.

Hey I was considering lowering my x5 3.0.. Trying to give it a more aggressive stance..

So far I've been looking into the hr springs, do you guys have any suggestions on lowering it?

Would it be a big issue if i installed hr springs on stock suspension if its basically running excellent now?

Ive been reading somewhere about hr springs having a difference on the x5's camber but I'm not sure if thats applied to the 3.0 also..

Im also going to get the stop tech rotors, brakes and SS lines.. any input?

Sigh....

I'm gonna summarize as shortly as possible.

-The H&R Springs are great, I would not run them on stock dampers, that is the cheap way to lower it. Get sport rated shocks/dampers as well. If you have air springs in the rear, the H&R kit should come with links to lower the rear as well.

-Anytime you lower, yes you will increase the camber some, you should get an alignment after. You may find you have some worn rear suspension components if your camber is too far out of spec, you would want to replace those.

-Stoptech rotors, SS lines, and brake pads of your choice are all great choices.

I don't have air in the back/:
So you're saying after an alignment I shouldn't have much camber issues right? Should I wait a week before I do it? Or right after

Also I see you have a 3.0 , do you know anything about the oil filter housing diy .

Then I would get the H&R Spring kit and a set of Bilstein Shocks/Struts (yellow) because you'll need dampers with the lower springs.

Alignment will only fix excessive camber if your suspension parts are in spec. How many miles on the X5? Have you done any suspension parts replacement or have previous owners done anything?

If you're going to tell me you have over 100k miles and all the suspension is original, you are also going to need to do some R&R of suspension parts BEFORE the alignment, and align when everything is installed.

In my experience as well I'd wait a week after new suspension is installed to do an alignment in order to let the shocks/springs settle.

Can you put the yr/engine/mileage etc in your signature so it helps other members help you? And by chance correct the sideways avatar lol

Definitely upgrade the shocks if you're lowering the vehicle, dampening and internal bump stops will be different.

I have Pagid red pads on my X5 and compared to BMW pads they're very aggressive and brake well, but they do have a lot of brake dust. Got them from Bavarian Auto.

Also I agree with letting the car stretch its limbs after new springs so it can settle properly.

How come everyone's talking about H&R and not Eibach btw? Love the Eibachs on my Mazda.

The Eibach and H&R springs both lower about 1.2"

H&R is about 20% cheaper than Eibach from what i've found, but yes Eibach springs are nice too.

I'm definitely not a fan of brake dust either haha, but they're on there now! Let us know how you like the Stop Tech pads for grab and dust.

I'd advise yes on the lowering. I did mine, used the HR springs with new Bilstein Touring (black), and a full alignment after. Lower by about 1.5 inches after letting settle in for a couple months. I did it for performance, but it sure looks pretty darned good, too, now that it's done.

I'd say no on a big brake kit - OEM is way more brakes than needed, even for spirited driving. Way too much coin for what you'll get out of it. If it's appearance you want here, maybe consider painting the stock calipers.

If you meant you were just considering Stop-Tech rotors and new pads, that would make more sense - but I haven't moved from stock so no opinion to offer. I did do stainless brake lines, though, and I'd say that was worthwhile.

Good luck.
