I hear you on the noise - switching to snows shortly but hope we get NO snow. I'm over it before it is here - I really just like warm/hot weather.

Ok, maybe driving in the snow once in a while when I'm nearly the only one on the road or in parking lots with no curbs can be fun.

Here is why I don't want snow AND also why I use snow tires... you just never know what we are going to get in the D.C. area.

Pic is my X5 in my driveway - over 100 foot driveway (not as big as some driveways I know but still, what a pain and huge waste of time dealing with it)

I hear ya man... last year's ice storm left the X covered in about an inch of ice. Working from home now, so probably won't drive much this winter (I hope).

Not much you can do about ice though. You all in Toronto do a good job driving in snow....I did 3 years in a turnaround in Mississauga in 2006-2009 and made some life long friends up north. I'm in the D.C. Area where we have horrible drivers, especially in the snow. Lots of people from around the world come here to live for a while, many have never seen snow except on TV. You know, drive 70 mph in snow or stop at the bottom of the hill before trying to go up

I suspect it's changed since then... last winter I would see 3-4 rear end collisions every day because people here LOVE to tailgate, even in slush, with bald all-season tires... and I had 2 incidents where the X's mighty brakes and traction kept me from hitting someone stupid enough to try to make a left turn with me already crossing the intersection. Sometimes I swear folks here are suicidal. One person tried to turn left from BEHIND a garbage truck that was waiting to turn left...

Not surprisingly, at some of the driver testing places here, for $600 you can get an automatic pass on the road test.
