Blew the transmission drum, what else should I upgrade

I just blew the classical transmission drum on my 4.4. It has about 100k miles on it.

I wanted to repair the tranny but I would not like to spend too much (probably not the best strategy but I already bought and installed another tranny so this will only be a back up transmission).

Should I buy a whole kit with a drum (cost about $500), just a drum ($100) with some friction plates ($???) or are there other parts I should be looking into replacing. Are the ebay kit something to go for or should I buy it some place else?
