STEERING ANGLE SENSOR, hard to replace?

A month ago I was diagnosed with a steering angle sensor replacement. Is this a hard job? Should I cough up the coin for a shop? I do most of the work successfully on this X. Do I have to remove the ignition, airbag system?
I was informed that it will need computer reprogram once installed.
Anyone do this job yet?

There's a video on Youtube on how to do this. Looks like a lot of work.

It will need computer calibration to work properly

There's a Youtube video on how to perform the calibration.

I haven't watched the video's but according to this procedure it doesn't look either difficult or time consuming.

Did they try to recalibrate the current unit via gt1 software? Not sure on X5 but other BMW I have seen some references to sensor replacement falsely before trying to recalibrate. In GT1 you can also see the out out of the sensor and make note of output signal or not.
