main serpentine belt tensioner remocal
R&Rd my belts a few weeks ago, now I have a squeeking I can only assume are the pullies. I searched (after I ordered teh replacements) and dont see a removal. Is teh assembly attached by just the two bolts that are loosened to set the proper tension?
Thanks

E30 do you have a 3.0? I did both tensioners and the idler pulleys when I did my belts, and the Indy found that my fan clutch was shot and making a horrible noise as well. Replaced all and been fine for 2.5 yrs

M62 4.4. The fan broke during belt r&r and the replacement fan was 4 bolt, old one was 3 so I got a new clutch assy.
I was not paying any attention to how the tensioner assy was attached but to avoid another dissssembly ordered the two idlers, piston and mount. I just hope to find out if it is more than those two nuts holding it in on top that are tightened when applying tension. I had several surprises with the belts and hope to avoid that this time. Thanks

I just did tensioner and idler pulleys on my 2005 4.4...didn't originally do the belt until just now. That actually was the cause of the squealing.
Super easy. Remove Belt, Remove Pulley Caps, T45 Torx to remove each pulley. Reverse process to reassemble. I got pulleys from advance auto...some other thread said they are from a quality manufacturer. ...and read this thread for pics. http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...8-rebuilt.html
